The Markit Spain Production Purchasing Managers’ Index measures the performance of the production sector and is derived from a survey of 400 industrial firms. The Production Purchasing Managers Index is founded on five individual indexes with these weights: New Orders (30 percent), End Product (25 percent), Employment (20 percent), Providers’ Delivery Times (15 percent) and Stock of Things Bought (10 percent), together with the Delivery Times index inverted so that it proceeds in a similar direction. A reading above 50 indicates an expansion of the production sector in comparison with the prior month; below 50 represents a contraction; while 50 indicates no change.
